Anna Greeley was named M2’s World’s Best Person of the Month during our August staff meeting. As a relatively new member of Team Media, Anna has fearlessly stepped in and stepped up as an incredible asset to the agency. As our second media team member named Anna, she’s even tolerated and embraced her new nickname, AJ, short for “Anna Junior.” Despite the shenanigans, she’s taken it in stride and M2 is so grateful that she’s part of the team. To reward her, we will pepper her with stupid questions.

Good Golly Miss Melanie! We may be a little late documenting our celebration of this two-time WBP winner (last time she won, she had a different last name), but we didn’t forget to call her out! Much has happened with our Original Melanie (we have 2 Melanies in the office) since her last win. Marriage, a new dog, a new position at the agency…this girl has been busy! Let’s play some catch up while happy dancing for her second WBP win.
Q: What is your favorite movie from childhood? Have you watched it recently? Does it hold up?
When we’re not tweeting, Instagramming, or PPC-ing, we’re usually submerged in digital/social trends (and a box of wine). We do the research so you don’t have to. Here are some updates from our digital media bubble:
Google Expanded Text Ads ARE HERE. Thats right! The days of painstakingly counting the characters in our clients names are no more. Sort of. Instead of the typical 25-character headline and two sub-lines of 35 characters each, we now have TWO headlines of 30 characters each AND an 80-character description. Screenshot below (and in the article if you’re adventurous). The switch was aimed specifically at mobile users who want more information at their fingertips, but the change benefits desktop and tablet users as well.
With the Olympic games starting next week, the United States Olympic Committee has released some interesting rules regarding the use of Social Media and non-sponsor businesses.
- You (your business) can’t use hashtags that include Olympics trademarks such as #TeamUSA or #Rio2016.
- Your business can’t share anything from official Olympics social media accounts. Even retweets are prohibited.
- You must not use words that incorporate the word “Olympic,” such as Mathlympics, Aqualympics, Chicagolympics, Radiolympics, etc.
- You can’t even wish the athletes luck.
- Don’t post any Olympic results.
- And definitely do not host an Olympic or Paralympic-themed contest or team-building event for employees.
Read more about the restrictions here and here. As the AdWeek article mentions, it may be frustrating for non-official sponsor brands, but it doesn’t eliminate companies from taking part in the conversation. They’ll just have to be smart about the way they do it.

Oh boy, oh boy! We love to celebrate our staff and last month was no exception. In June, we honored new employee Melanie Quick! Melanie joined us just a couple months ago (I promise we are updating our staff page soon) and has jumped in with both feet. The staff loves her, clients love her, and we are so happy that she chose to join the M2 family. Per our custom, let’s get to know Melanie a little better.
Q: Describe your first day at Motivated Marketing using only a movie title.
The Avengers! Just like in the Avengers when heroes with different super powers come together to save the world, I experienced remarkable people with a variety of strengths come together to save their clients marketing. M2 – rescuing their clients branding, one marketing campaign at a time.
Pokemon Go. You don’t have to play, but you should be paying attention. Pokemon Go is mobile gaming’s newest obsession and if you are not taking advantage of the opportunity, your business is missing out. We are not going to go over the basics of the game here. There are already multiple articles to help you understand how to play. Instead, we will give you some tips on how to leverage Pokemon Go into a marketing opportunity for your brand/business.
First things first, find out if there is a PokeStop or Gym near your business location. (If you haven’t already checked the app, the swarms of trainers in and around your business may have already clued you in.) If you are one of the lucky businesses “on the map,” there are TONS of ways to capitalize.
Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing dads out there! Today, we are hearing from TJ, Ben, and Adam (aka “Daddy” to the little people that live in their homes) about their favorite “dadvertising” moments.
TJ Sack – Dad of 2 – Agency Principal
With two daughters, this one hit home to me. I hope I am able to protect and be a part of my daughters’ lives as they continue to grow up. It also makes me sad because I do not want my girls to grow up. Selfishly, I want them to stay my little angels.
As we close out another month of celebrating our World’s Best Person, we’d like to take a moment to acknowledge May’s Winner: Jillian Inniss. Each month, M2 staff members have the opportunity to nominate co-workers that have exemplified excellence. The winner of World’s Best Person (of the month) gets a coveted trophy for display, bragging rights, and $50! The nominations are consistently great, but this month had some of the best in the history of the award.
Jillian is in charge of our agency snack drawer and she has taken that responsibility to the NEXT LEVEL. We usually don’t publish any of the nominations – but this one was too good not to share.
As his month of World’s Best Person comes to an end, we celebrate Jose Amaya – Our April World’s Best Person (of the month). Jose has been a mainstay nominee and could, frankly, win every month coasting on his talent alone. Lucky for us, he’s not a one-trick pony. Jose is a master of motion graphics, a pro at post-production, a wizard of video and sound & probably one of the hardest working people you’ve ever met.
Let’s celebrate his win – M2 style – by pestering him with obnoxious questions.
